Over 65s in Spain wil be able to enjoy the cinema for a token price of two euros. The benefit, described as a “new social advance”, will be available once a week on Tuesdays. Speaking at an election campaign rally, President Pedro Sanchez said the move was part of a drive to make culture accessible to all age groups, particularly since the challenges of the covid pandemic. “Cinema must form part of active and healthy ageing”. The initiative wil cost a reported €10m and could be extended to other days of the week if it proves popular.
