Financial advisors are reporting a surge in questions about Inheritance Tax – and how to ensure their heirs pay as litle as possible. An overwhelming majority (94%) have seen recent increases in inquiries, while nearly one third 32% have experienced “substantial” jumps, according to a new survey. And almost all (91%) expect the upsurge to continue over the comimg 12 months, with 46% anticipating substantially more. The increases were prompted mainly by the continued freeze on IHT at £325,000, plus an extra £175,000 if the estate includes a home, in Rachel Reeves’autumn budget. It also included plans to slao IHT on unused pension pots. Mark Dunn, retail sales marketing head at Downing, the arvisors behind the survey, said the anouncements were driving demand from new, rather than existing, clients seeking suport from providers of spcialistplaning solutions. Almost half of those surveyed said when people made their first inquiries they were aged “50-plus on average”.
