Geting more people in their 50s and 60s into work could be worth a staggering £109 billion to the UK economy, according to a new report. There is a major proviso however. The total relies on every area matching the best employment rate in its peer group, according to the the International Longevity Centre UK, whch conducted the research. But it says “even under a more modest scenario, where lagging areas simply caught up to the average, the UK would still gain nearly £20 billion”.
