A glimmer of encouragement for silver jobseekers who feel age is standing in their way has emerged from a new survey. More than half (54%) of the organisations questioned said they were providing unconscious bias training to managers and interviewers involved in hiring – a sharp increase from the 34% who were doing so in 2019. And 45% had introduced anonymised recruitment into stages of the selection process, against 23% five years ago. But despite these improvements a disturbing 81% of over 50s still blame age as the main factor limiting their chances of landing a job.
