Two important messages for silver travellers and those who market to them have been raised by the widely reported experience of couple, aged 80 and 79, who ell foul of Ryanair’s check in rules: To the former: always double check any online actions for mistakes before they become irreparable. To the latter: get someone for whom internet navigation is not second nature to check that using your website is not over complicated. Before departure the couple printed boarding cards for their Ryanair flight back to the UK rather than those for the outbound flight. To their horror the airline charged them £55 each to check in at the airport.
