Half of all workers aged between 50 and 60 lose or quit their jobs, but nearly one in three (62%) return to work within the same time frame. Research by the universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow shows. Workers who remain unemployed are prevented or deterred for a range of reasons, including perceptions that they lack up to date skills. And the number of health problems they suffer is a major deterrent. Only 30% with one declared condition returning to work, followed by 21% of those with two, 14% of those with three and 9% of those wih four or more.
