Potential visitors with mobility problems and other physical handicaps will soon be able to experience holidaying in north east England through 3D virtual tours. The aim is to allay any concerns people may have about accessibility. The marketing initiative has been launched by Destination North East England. While 360 degree photography and virtual exploration is not new, says the Destination Development Partnership, this is the first in the UK to cover such a range of accessibility needs in such a huge range of venues and attractions. And though the move covers all age groups, it will clearly be of interest to older visitors with walking difficulties or other limitations. Among the attractons already involved are Kielder Observatory and Northern Stage (accompanying image for its production of Moby Dick). Visitors will soon be able to access the 3D photography via the regions tourism booking platform New Adventures or at destinationnortheastengland.co.uk.
