Ageing reduces our ability to read other people’s moods from their facial expressions, according to new a new study. Researchers at the University of Porto have added weight to earlier analyses that showed older adults were less accurate than younger people at identifying expressions of anger, fear, sadness and surprise. They looked at how 25 younger adults, 23 in middle age and 25 older adults performes in emotion identification tasks while subject to an electroencephalogy test of brain acitivity.
