Take care what you wear. Roughly two thirds of people questioned in a new survey said that, on average, you no longer look good in the latest fashions when you’ve reached reached 56. Mind you there is some hope, with the rest (32%) saying there’s no age at which you should trying to stay a la mode. The research, part of the Age without Limits Campaign mounted by the Centre for Ageing Better, shows silvers are still fighting an uphill battle against prejudice. It also finds 61 and 55 repectively are the average ages at which people are thought to struggle with adaptation to new technology – and when they cease to be seen as desirable candidates by employers. In this third year of the campaign the organisers say it “focuses on the absurdity of everyday ageism, highlighting how the persistent acceptance of negative attitudes towards ageing has the potential to limit all our lives as we get older”.
