The “returnships” initiative follows research by the airline showing 74% of them agreed this was a perfect age at which to try a new career and 67% of those already retired had considered returning to work. As part of its campaign it will offer free information sessions and a “hands on” cabin crew training taster at Gatwick. Since its first bid two years ago to to show that anyone with the right skills could do the job – regardless of age – can it has seen the number of over-50s on its aircraft double and those over 60 quadruple, though the airline has not said how many it now employs.
