The over-70s come second only to those in their 20s when it comes to spending time online, new data suggests. But they averaged less on social media than any other age group. The figures, from the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS), exclude time working or streaming videos, and under-20s were not included in the survey. And one possible reason could be that younger people are nimbler at managing software and keyboards. But they further undermine the myth that a large proportion of older adults are internet dinosaurs. A surprising finding from the research is that the over 70s spend more time playing computer games than people in their 60s. Less surprising is that their average daily gaming time is only a quarter of that expended by those in their 20s
